BOB SCOTT (1970 - )
Primitive Painted Cork Carvings & Halloween Folk Art
A self-taught artist who works in many different mediums, I am known especially for my Halloween Folk Art and innovative Painted Cork Carvings, raw mixed media carvings made from recycled cork and found objects.
As a freelance artist, I also illustrate underground rock 'n' roll themed work in a bold art brut style with markers. My illustration work includes designing record cover sleeve art for labels like Goodbye Boozy (Italy), Certified PR (USA), Sultan Records (Canada), and Mammoth Cave (Canada) as well as creating concert posters, t-shirt designs, and logos for various bands and concert promoters.
I participate in solo and group art exhibits across North America and love it when people see my artwork firsthand.
In addition to my art, I c0-run Mongrel Zine, a print fanzine and record label.
Peintre, dessinateur et sculpteurs de bas-reliefs, mon travail puise dans un folklore coloré illustrant certains mythes de différentes cultures.
Interviewed in Mongrel Zine (April 2008), Nerve Magazine (June 2007), and Gravyzine (June 2007). “Bob Scott’s Halloween Tyme II” was posted about on Vancouver Daily Secret (October 2012), “2 Sensational Shockers” was featured in Monday Magazine (September 2011), and “Cork Deco Alphabet” was mentioned in the Vancouver Province’s Great Things To Do This Weekend column (December 2009).
